Featured Massage Therapist
Laura Turk is one of Mellow Massage Therapy Center's most dedicated therapists. She has been with Mellow since the center opened over 2 years ago. Her diverse therapeutic background (including everything from energy work to deep tissue massage) makes her a well-rounded massage therapist with a full range of modalities to offer her clients.
~ Before becoming a wellness professional, you were in the military. What made you decide to become a massage therapist?
After my enlistment ended I worked for the military as a civilian. My last assignment as such was at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA, where I helped run their corporate wellness program for the soldiers. My boss was an RN who was extremely passionate about health, fitness and wellness, and that lit a fire under me to be in a health-related profession. While still in that job, I began getting massages myself, and that led me specifically to massage when the opportunity came for me to change career directions.
~ You offer your clients wonderful stretches to do between massage therapy sessions. What are some of your favorite stretches you do to keep yourself healthy?
Up and down head nods, back and forth head shakes, backward shoulder rolls, door-jam pectoral stretches, and seated lower back stretches are the ones I most frequently practice. The main thing is to keep fresh oxygenated blood pumping into the muscles you use all the time, by keeping them moving. Don't go more than 1- 1 1/2 hours between stretching if you do repetitive tasks or keep your muscles in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
~ You take a lot of massage and bodywork continuing education classes. Which one has been your favorite thus far?
Comfort Touch, which I took out in Lakewood, CO. I actually took this class before I finished my massage therapy program. It completely impacted how I do massage, not just treating the muscles. I have learned to be fully present with the entire person. I believe that's why I have such a wonderful rapport with all of my clients.

The Ultimate Detoxifying Treatment
Mellow is please to introduce a new package called The Ultimate Detoxifying Treatment! This package includes a Detoxifying Massage Therapy Session and a Colon Hydrotherapy Session with our dear friends from Infinity Health and Wellness. It doesn't get much better than that. Please Read on for more information and Information on how you can save $25 on this package!
Healing from the Inside Out
Everyday we encounter toxins in our environment, food, and body products. Smoking, drinking excessive amounts of alcohol and eating overly processed foods tax our body, making it difficult for us to absorb key vitamins and minerals essential for optimal health. Liver and colon health are vital in helping to clear the body of harmful substances. If they are not working properly, our bodies feel sluggish, and we are more susceptible to weight gain and disease.
Detoxification is the cleansing and removing of toxic chemicals from the body. There are many beneficial ways to detox the body. Mellow Massage Therapy Center and Infinity Health & Wellness created a treatment designed to help the body rid itself of excess waste and return to the path of well-being. This treatment includes colon hydrotherapy and a detoxifying massage therapy session.
The Detoxifying Massage Therapy Session consists of a relaxing massage on a heated massage table. Your massage Therapist will use oil or cream containing specially chosen herbal extracts and essential oils renowned for their detoxifying effects on the body. This 60-minute session also includes an abdominal massage to prepare you for your Colon Hydrotherapy Session.
Massage Therapy goes along great with any cleansing program. Manipulation of the soft tissues in the body releases stored toxins from within tight muscles and adipose tissue. After this release, proper hydration will help the body to eliminate the toxic buildup.
After the massage, you'll receive a colon hydrotherapy treatment. By using the calm healing power of water, Colon Hydrotherapy also know as a "Colinic", uses a gentle flow of purified water to relieve the colon of toxic waste. The benefits may include new-found energy, weight loss, & prevention of disease.
After the massage, you'll receive a colon hydrotherapy treatment.
Colon Hydrotherapy, when received directly after your Detoxifying Massage Therapy Session, removes toxic buildup released from the lymphatic system during the massage.Your 45-minute session is set in a sterile, relaxing & private environment.
Treat your body today and receive this package for only $130, a savings of $25!

The Magic Behind Mellow (pt.2)
Featured Massage Therapist
Amanda Kneezel, NCMT, LMT
Amanda Kneezel, NCMT, LMT
Amanda Kneezel is a Licensed and Nationally Certified Massage Therapist. She graduated from the Florida College of Natural Health in 2004 and is trained in a wide array of massage therapy modalities. Below is a short interview with Amanda:
~You are the only therapist here at Mellow that provides ayurvedic services. How did you become interested in ayurveda?
I actually stumbled upon Ayurveda. I was practicing in South Florida and a continuing education mailer was sent to my office and it looked very interesting. I gave it a try and was drawn in by the whole body approach to healing.
~You have a lot of experience in the massage industry and worked in a few different cities and states. What do you think makes Mellow unique?
Mellow is calm, laid back with the feel of a spa but the talent of a therapeutic center. I love being able to help people and not have our services break the bank so they can come back over and over.
~What do you do to relax after a long day of massaging clients?
Relax.
